Redland Bay Tennis Club’s recent success at the Tennis Queensland awards has seen them up for yet another prestigious gong.
The club won Tennis Queensland’s coveted club of the year award on October 28 at the Brisbane Exhibition Centre, which has put them in the running to win the Most Outstanding Club award at the John Newcombe medal otherwise known as the Tennis Australia Awards.
The club is up against Boroondara Tennis Centre in Victoria and City Community Tennis from NSW, with the winner to be announced at the awards ceremony in Melbourne on November 27.
The award will be one 15 categories announced on the night including the 2017 Newcombe Medal and Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tilley said the event honours those individuals and organisations who have contributed to an inspiring year of Tennis around Australia.
“We recognise the exceptional achievements of our athletes but also celebrate the influence our coaches, clubs, schools, volunteers and communities have had on the game across Australia during the past 12 months,” he said.
“We look forward to honouring the contribution of our tennis stars on and off the court at the Australian Tennis Awards.”
