Labor candidate for Redlands Kim Richards says a coalition of LNP and One Nation would cause job cuts and chaos.
Ms Richards said this would smash economic confidence and send a devastating message to the Asia Pacific tourism market.
“An LNP-One Nation coalition would have severe consequences for the Redlands economy,” Ms Richards said.
“...I can still vividly recall the great reputational damage Pauline Hanson inflicted on Queensland in 1998 in the Asian markets.
“Media in Asian countries reported on the rise of Hanson in 1998 and tourism from those countries slowed.”
Redlands LNP MP Matt McEachan said that only the LNP could manage the budget and deliver on promises.
“Labor has proven it can’t manage Queensland’s finances by trying to spend the same money three times, by subsidising power bills, using it on renewables and pay down debt,” he said.
“It can’t be done. Labor have proven they can’t be trusted.
“The LNP will deliver cheaper electricity, more local jobs and better roads because we’ll manage the budget responsibly and get on with the job of delivering.”
Ms Richards said an LNP-one Nation coalition would damage economic confidence.
“Everyone in the Redlands knows someone who was impacted by cuts to jobs and frontline services under the Newman-Nicholls Government,” she said.
“The previous Newman-Nicholls LNP government sacked more than 900 people from local health and hospital services including 200 in health and community care and 84 in home care.
“These cuts hurt the Redlands economy, not to mention the frontline health services locals rely on.
“In contrast, under Annastacia Palaszczuk, local frontline health services have been restored with 655 extra local nurses, 188 extra local doctors and 156 health practitioners.”
Ms Richards said the power was in the hands of Redland voters this Saturday.
