MASTERS hockey player Kylie O’Donohue will again don her green and gold uniform when she travels to Spain next year.
The 36-year-old Wellington Point woman was selected to represent the country at the 2018 Masters World Cup after helping to secure victory for Queensland at the national women’s masters championships last month.
While her first European sojourn in July promises plenty of thrills, O’Donohue said she was most looking forward to learning new tactics from competing teams.
“I am really looking forward to meeting players from the various international hockey communities and I'm very keen to see what new knowledge and skills I can learn from our opposition,” she said.
The international competition will be O’Donohue’s second, following her gold-winning efforts at the Trans Tasman challenge held at New Zealand in May.
O’Donohue said she would join nine of her team mates from the challenge and four Queensland players debuting for Australia.
While O’Donohue is a masters player, the Northern Suburbs Hockey Club member said she still had plenty to learn.
“I have a number of skills that I'd like to further refine and improve on, plus some new developing skills I'd like to be able to execute during my games,” she said.
O’Donohue described the Trans Tasman challenge earlier this year as fantastic and hoped the fun would be repeated in Spain.
“The great part about the tournament was the great sportsmanship on and off the field from both Australia and New Zealand in the true spirit of the game,” she said.
“The tournament was officially closed with a full contingent dinner with all women's and men's teams from both Australia and New Zealand."
The 2018 Masters World Cup is on between July 27 and August 5 next year at Terressa in Spain.
