Popular crooner Craig Martin of Ormiston is among the acts to perform at the City of Logan Christmas Carols, being staged from 4.30pm to 9.30pm on Friday, December 15 at the Griffith Logan campus, 68 University Drive, Meadowbrook.
Martin will perform with his six-piece swing band and three backing vocalists.
Hailing from England, Martin said he was thrilled when he came to Australia eight years ago that there was such a tradition of local carol singing, something he said wasn’t as strong where he came from.
“I was blown away that Australians celebrate Christmas and celebrate carols in such a brilliant way. Here I was on the sofa trying to acclimatise on a hot Christmas day watching carol shows. I had no idea it was so big in Australia,” he said.
The carols will be headlined by Aria award winner Samantha Jade and also feature popular children’s act Paw Patrol, the 2014 The Voice kids winner Alexa Curtis and community choirs.
Patrons are invited to bring a picnic rug and enjoy international flavours from popular food trucks while Santa and Paw Patrol characters will be there for the children. There will also be a range of rides.
The gates open at 4.30pm, with the stage shows from 5pm. Patrons are invited to sing along.
The event is alcohol and smoking free with parking on site. A bus service does however go directly to the site.
