In the estuaries your target species at this time of year are whiting, flathead and mulloway however there are still a few late season bream around.
The best results have come from fishing in the southern Bay, Jumpinpin and Broadwater.
There has also been good numbers of trevally, tailor and mangrove jack for those trolling or casting lures.
Estuary waters are starting to clear up, although the Albert River is still chocolate brown and the Logan is also discoloured.
Neither are producing many keepers.
No numbers of mud crabs caught this week but there were sandies throughout the Bay as far south as Giant’s Grave and in the northern Broadwater.
Snapper have been a little quiet in the Bay, with the best results coming from the shallows around the Bay islands.
For the surf anglers there has been good tailor and school mulloway on the beaches from Ballina to Pottsville.
However it has been hard to find them on the northern beaches.
The Brisbane River is turning up a lot of threadfin and the odd mulloway.
Low and slow is the key to catching them, keep your lure on the bottom and moving slowly for the best chance.
There is still mackerel in the Bay but you need to get over to Moreton or head out around the Spitfire Channel off Bribie to have any chance of snagging them.
For offshore anglers, the Wave Rider Buoy off Point Lookout is still not reporting but it is in position so there should be a few dolphinfish to be caught around it.
There is plenty of tuskfish in around 40 - 60m of water, you will go through a lot of bait with pickers but if you persevere you will be able to catch yourself a feed.
Trolling for pelagics has been slow over the past week.
There has been the odd Spanish mackerel and wahoo around The Group an Cape Moreton.
On the freshwater scene, if you are prepared to put the effort in you are going to catch a feed of redclaw in most impoundments.
However they are not in big numbers as yet.
Bass numbers are excellent in North Pine Dam and slowly increasing in other impoundments which is encouraging.
Top spots this week were the Platypus Cliffs at Wivenhoe Dam and the timbered areas of Somerset Dam which are producing some good quality yellowbelly.
Barramundi dams to our north are starting to fire up with good catches reported around lily lined foreshores at night.
