CAPALABA police have urged motorists to secure their number plates and keep their cars locked after vehicles parked at busy shops and residential streets were targeted.
A station spokesperson said vehicle crimes were often preventable and advised drivers to remove valuables.
Anti-theft screws and fittings for registration plates can also be bought from vehicle accessory shops.
The spokesperson advised bicycle owners to record their bike’s serial number or get them engraved.
Bicycles recovered by police can be matched to owners who report their stolen bike’s serial number or engraving.
