A current exhibition at Redland Art Gallery, Capalaba celebrates the artistic talent of Redland high schools students.
High Schools in Focus II runs until Saturday, January 20 and combines artworks from Carmel College, Cleveland District State High School, Faith Lutheran College Redlands, Ormiston College and Sheldon College students.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said High Schools In Focus II – the second of a two part exhibition – was a great example of the outstanding results that could be achieved when different organisations and individuals worked in partnership towards a common goal.
“As part of this project, school students were given the opportunity to collaborate within a gallery environment, harnessing new skills and giving them added confidence to follow artistic pursuits,” Cr Williams said
“Students were encouraged to use a range of mediums including painting, drawing, mixed media, photography, sculpture, textiles and new media to create a piece to the theme of ‘identity. The end result is a diverse, inspiring and thought-provoking collection of artworks that give us a rare insight into issues driving young people in our community.”
