POLICE are patrolling the Bruce, Warrego and Cunningham highways in boosted numbers to make sure drivers keep safe this festive season.
More than 220 people have been killed on Queensland roads since the beginning of the year, with Operation Papa Guardian launched on December 1 to ensure motorists avoided the Fatal Five.
Deputy Commissioner Bob Gee said Road Policing Command, which would use 108 marked and six unmarked motorcycles for patrols, had been equipped with improved uniform jackets and high visibility bike markings to make sure drivers could see them.
