MARK Robinson has thrown his hat in the ring to contend the Queensland LNP leadership after sliding into his fourth term as Oodgeroo MP last month.
He said he believed he could offer the party a fresh direction after the LNP were defeated at state elections on November 25.
“Despite the best efforts of the the old LNP team of leader Tim Nicholls and his deputy Deb Frecklington, they failed to attract Queenslanders to the LNP,” he said.

“I am the only leadership contender who represents a complete break with the past leadership teams and offers a new beginning.”
Mr Robinson secured his seat of Oodgeroo in this year’s state election, in which Labor cemented a victory, gaining a two-seat majority.
He announced his intention to replace LNP leader Tim Nicholls and knock out fellow contenders Deb Frecklington and John-Paul Langbroek on Saturday, after Mr Nicholls made clear last Friday he would not seek re-election as leader.
“I have spoken to the whips and requested that a party room meeting be held at 2pm next Tuesday, 12 December 2017,” Mr Nicholls said.
“I will not be seeking to continue as Leader of the LNP.”
Mr Nicholls phoned Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk on Friday to concede defeat, almost two weeks after the election.
