A BUSHFIRE which burned at Alexandra Hills has been extinguished by firefighters about nine hours after breaking out.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said crews were called to the Flinders Street site at 6.10am today before leaving at 2.55pm.
About five crew were dispatched to battle the blaze near the road which backed onto the Scribbly Gums conservation site.

While the spokesperson said the bushfire was controlled by about 10am thanks to back-burning along containment lines, smoke billowing from the fire remained extensive throughout the day.
Nearby residents were warned by QFES earlier today to shut-up their homes and to keep medication close by, with drivers also urged to drive carefully in smokey conditions.
