GUESTS at a wedding held at Wellington Point could provide missing clues for police investigating the death of a Holland Park woman whose body was later found in the area.
A Queensland Police Service spokesperson said Naima Hassan’s death was being treated as non-suspicious but further evidence was sought to help establish a more accurate timeline of her movements.
Naima Hassan, 27, was last seen by her family on the morning of Saturday, October 28 before her car was found the next day parked at Wellington Point Reserve.
The area was searched as police, Ms Hassan’s family and others tried to find her.
It is understood Ms Hassan may have watched a wedding at Wellington Point Recreation Reserve on the afternoon of Saturday, October 28, before her death which happened that day or soon after.
Wedding guests or others with photos or video taken of Ms Hassan on Saturday, October 28 are urged to contact police.
“Police are appealing for any witnesses that may have been present at a wedding in the reserve on the afternoon of Saturday the 28th of October 2017 and may have taken video or photographs which may contain images of Ms Hassan,” the spokesperson said.
“A report is currently being prepared for the coroner in relation to the death of Naima Hassan at the Wellington Point Recreation Reserve on or about the 28th day of October 2017.
Ms Hassan’s death is being treated as non-suspicious at this time.
- Queensland Police Service spokesperson
While the Wellington Point area and surrounding coastline were searched by SES, police and police divers after Ms Hassan’s body was found at Sovereign Waters foreshore on Tuesday, October 31, items belonging to Ms Hassan could also still be within the vicinity.
The spokesperson said two library books, a black hijab, set of Nissan car keys and pair of black and white sports shoes were still outstanding.
A detective investigating Ms Hassan’s death confirmed shoes found hanging from a powerline at Wellington Point Recreation Reserve earlier this month by members of the public did not belong to Ms Hassan.
“Police did attend and I can confirm they were not the shoes,” the detective said.
“So those shoes are still outstanding at this time.”
