From three different sports in three corners of the world emerges a trifecta (for want of a lesser word) of cheating allegations: a four-time Tour de France winner fails a doping test; cricketers are embroiled in match-fixing; and a probe into a rugby league club, which started as a match-fixing investigation and wouldn't have minded a sniff of a drug scandal, finally comes up with accusations of salary cap rigging. All this, and Russia too: one week ago, sanctions for the biggest drug-cheating scandal of all time. Oh, sport! Must you be the Lucy to our Charlie Brown? Haven't you made us fools enough already?
