DRIVERS were being urged to take caution while heading towards Melbourne on the Hume Highway.

Issues with the road began to emerge about 4pm across a 10 kilometre stretch of the highway.
The right hand lane was affected, with footage taken by members of the public showing the bitumen falling apart.
The incident caused delays with Victoria Police urging people to avoid the lane.
