Premier League Bowls comes to Victoria Point this Saturday January 13, at 5pm.
Victoria Point will host Tweed Heads in the first home game of this Premier League season.
Included in the visiting Tweed Teams are bowlers who have represented Australia, NSW and Queensland.
Some of the Tweed bowlers include:
# Leif Selby, who won the lawn bowls gold medal in the singles competition and silver in the pairs with Aron Sherriff at the 2012 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. He also won the silver medal in the singles competition at the 2010 Commonwealth Games;
# Wayne Turley who won a gold medal in the men’s triples at the 2006 Commonwealth Games. He also won a silver medal four years later at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. In between he won a silver medal at the 2008 World Outdoor Bowls Championship;
# Chloe Stewart, 2017 Australian Open Fours Champion, 2016 Australian Open Fours Champion, 2016 Women’s State Singles Champion, 2015 world junior cup silver medallist singles, 2015 world junior cup bronze medallist mixed pairs; and
# Victoria Point bowlers Sean Baker, Australian and Queensland representative, Jamie Nordloff, Queensland representative, Jade Groenewege, runner-up in Australian fours championship 2017, also will appear.
There will be three hours of top class lawn bowls from 5pm and the bistro also will be open.
Another top class event at Victoria Point this Sunday is Premier Sevens, with play starting at 1pm.
