THERE’S been an early show of prawns for the cast netters.
Pine River seems to be the better producer at the moment but most of the deeper holes in rivers and creeks would be worth a throw.
Whiting and flathead continue to be the main species on the bite.
The Nerang River is fishing well for whiting, as are the sandy foreshores around the Broadwater, Tingalpa Creek and Wynnum.
The Logan River is still discoloured, but a few threadfin have been caught this week and small bull sharks are still a common catch from the deeper holes.
In Moreton Bay there has been a few snapper reported in the shallows, Peel Island has fished well this week in the early morning.
There are spotties in the bay but not many have ventured south of Peel Island.
The best catches have been along Moreton Island at The Sand Hills and Four Beacons.
There has been some good reports from the surf this week, with tailor to three kilos on the beaches at night and plenty of good sized dart in the surf.
Offshore there are still a few dolphinfish reported at the Wave Rider Buoy off Point Lookout.
The 29 and 33 fathom reefs have produced a mixed bag of snapper and tuskfish.
Better quality pearl perch were caught this week as well as a few small amberjack and quality trag in 80m to 90m, providing you have live bait.
There has been a big jump in water temperature, which should see an increase in pelagic species.
