KARYN Trevor-Jones’ pooch knows how to go on a doggy paddle without getting drenched.
The trick sounds like a riddle, but Karyn said it was easy – all that is needed is a paddle board, adventurous owner and their dog.
Karyn now wants others to join her for a stand-up paddle board with their pooch.
She and BrisSUP club are hosting a Pups on Sups event at Raby Bay’s dog beach from 9am on Saturday, January 20, with all proceeds destined for disabled animal shelter Storybrook Farm.
Online registrations close this Saturday evening but tickets can be bought on the day.
Karyn encouraged all owners to give stand-up paddle boarding with their pooch a try, even if they were first timers.
She said the sport was much easier than it looked, even for those with dogs scared of water.
“We’ve always paddle boarded with dogs and thought it would be fun to get other people involved,” she said.
“The whole idea is a family fun day out. There are loads of prizes and there is also a charity race for a gold coin donation.”
Karyn said stand-up paddle boards could be hired from Raby Bay’s Bay Island Stand Up Paddle and Kayak Company, with dog life jackets able to be bought from camping stores.
The two-hour event will include a sausage sizzle, stalls, coffee and dog-friendly ice cream.
