Two authors will share their migrant experiences and challenges in adapting to a new culture when they come to Redland libraries.
Hazel Barker will launch her new book The Sides of Heaven at Victoria Point Library from 10am to 11am on Friday, February 23 and Lidia Kardos comes to the Capalaba library at 10am on Wednesday, March 7.
Ms Barker’s memoir is set in Burma following World War 2 and the subsequent civil war. From a family's endurance, a mother's faith and a young girl's traumatic journey through her teenage years ultimately springs a story of redemption and hope.She yearns for freedom, yet chooses to become a nun and she yearns for her family, yet spreads her wings for Australia.
The Sides of Heaven is the sequel to Heaven Tempers the Wind: Story of a War Child, which was shortlisted in the Australia and New Zealand-wide CALEB Competition of 2017.
Lidia Kardos wrote Train to Australia and its sequel I Do.
