TAMIEKA Whitefield of Alexandra Hills has been chosen for the Australian Women’s softball squad for 2018.
She is among a field of 24 players, eight from Queensland.
Tamieka Whitefield was also a member of the Queensland Open Heat Women’s team which claimed silver at the 2018 Australian Open Women’s Championships (Gilley’s Shield).
The competition was held in Mirrabooka, WA from January 6 to 12 and attracted Australia’s best women’s player.
The Queensland team made it through to the grand final match where it was defeated by New South Wales, 5-1.
The Australian U15 Girls’ Championships was also held as part of this event with two Queensland teams placing sixth and ninth.
The Under 17 Australian Boy’s and Girl’s Championships were also held concurrently in Blacktown, NSW.
Kynan Molander of Alexandra Hills was named in the All Tournament Team in the Under 17 boy’s tournament.
Both Queensland teams won silver, defeated by New South Wales.
