Two Redland College Year 11 students have recently excelled in their chosen sports.
Eloise McGill was selected for the Queensland College Exposure Team for her prowess in basketball and Georgia Sandford claimed victory in girl’s cricket.
The Queensland College Exposure Team will tour America in June/July, visiting multiplle colleges in Los Angeles and being exposed to colleges and college coaches. It will then play in an AAU basketball tournament in Las Vegas with college coaches in attendance to evaluate players.
Eloise’s selection follows being part of a squad of 40 girls in Queensland South who were chosen to train and undergo a selection process. Following the state championships, two Queensland South teams were selected from this squad.
Eloise said she was thrilled to have made the team and was looking forward to everything that she would learn from the experience.
Georgia Sandford, 15, of Wellington Point captained the Gold Coast District Cricket Club, girls under 17 team to grand final victory over Western Suburbs DCC in the Brisbane Premier League T20 competition on January 26.
The grand final was held under lights at Chelmer sports ground.
Georgia collected the shield for the comfortable 40-run victory and was also awarded the player of the match for her unbeaten 52 not out.
