An era ended on October 24 last year with the death of Audrey Billiau.

Audrey and Neville Billiau (deceased May 2009) were known in the Redlands as the owners of a furniture manufacturing business R.N & A.M Billiau (incorporating Capala Furnishings) at Redland Bay Road, Capalaba for about 30 years from 1960.
During the 1974 floods, the couple supplied materials and built and donated wardrobes to flooded homes in the region. The factory building today still stands and is the premises for Footprints.
Mr and Mrs Billiau moved to the Gold Coast in 1977 and, on retirement, did more than 52 cruises.
Mr Billliau was a local Justice of the Peace and zone chairman of the Capalaba/Mount Cotton Lions Club. Mrs Billiau was a former secretary of the Capalaba/Mount Cotton Ladies Lions club.
Mr and Mrs Billiau were featured in a DVD outlining the history of Capalaba entitled Quandamooka Country.
They are survived by their children Debbie Arnold of Cleveland, Mark Billiau, RoslynAtkins and Cheryl Billiau, 15 grand children and 17 great grand children.
“Mum’s passing is the end of a very loved and adored family and community member,” Ms Arnold said.
