DAMAGING winds and hail are expected to hit the region as a storms developing near Toowoomba move east.
The Bureau of Meteorology has warned hail measuring up to two centimetres had already battered Ipswich, with golf ball size hail reported just south of Gatton.
While Greenbank, Marburg and Lake Manchester are next in line, the alert has been issued to local government areas including Logan, Scenic Rim and Brisbane City.
Authorities have been warning residents to clear away loose outdoors items and become storm ready, with conditions ripe for wild weather.
A heatwave, which began late last week, brought winds stronger than 100km/hr to parts of south-east Queensland on Sunday, February 11.
About 400 powerlines were downed, leaving more than 100,000 Energex customers disconnected.
