NATIONAL parks rangers and firefighters have had some overnight relief from a bushfire burning near Bulwer on Moreton Island.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson reported showers on the Moreton Bay island had produced better conditions.
“There has been rainfall on the island overnight and the fire is currently smouldering within containment lines,” she said.
The fire has seen the northern section of the island closed to campers.
Smoke might affect the wider Moreton Bay and Brisbane regions today.
Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service crews are at a bushfire.
Residents who are being affected by smoke are advised to close windows and doors and keep medications close by if suffering from a respiratory condition.
Residents are also advised to switch air-conditioners to recycle.
Motorists and boaties in the area are advised to drive with caution and to conditions as smoke can decrease visibility.
Residents are advised to call 000 immediately if their property is under threat.
