Shane Merrigan was a devoted Queensland father who loved his three daughters, but he will never be able to walk them down the aisle.
The 50-year-old was killed in a fight on the side of Brisbane's busy Gateway Motorway on December 1, 2015.
On Thursday, the man who knocked him into the path of a 13.7-tonne rubbish truck was found guilty of unlawful striking causing death.
Tamate Heke had also been facing a charge of manslaughter at his Brisbane Supreme Court trial, but was found not guilty of that by the jury, following half a day of deliberations.
It was the second time Heke had been on trial over the manslaughter charge, after a jury failed to reach a verdict in 2017.
In the second trial, the court heard the factory worker had been driving home from a 12-hour shift when he was tailgated and challenged to pull over at Eight Mile Plains by Mr Merrigan.
Heke told police Mr Merrigan came at him, pushed and punched him, before he retaliated.
Heke also told investigators he tried to grab him as he fell and he "didn't mean it".
Crown prosecutor David Meredith, however, had argued throughout the trial that Heke threw a "heavy punch in anger" and was not trying to defend himself.
Mr Meredith said Mr Merrigan never touched Heke.
After the verdicts came down on Thursday, Mr Merrigan's wife and mother read emotional victim impact statements to the court.
The family has been shattered by his death and his wife Jennifer spoke of the torment she has endured since he was killed.
"Let me tell you what grief does," she said, addressing Heke.
"It tears you up into a million broken pieces and scatters you like a jigsaw (puzzle) that can never be put back together."
Before Mr Merrigan was killed, life was simple, his wife said.
"You took away my dreams and replaced them with nightmares," Ms Merrigan said to Heke.
"My daughters will never have their dad walk them down the aisle."
During a bail application for Heke in December 2015, the court heard Mr Merrigan had a history of road rage.
Complaints had been made to his former employer about road incidents between 2010 and 2012.
The company paid for a defensive driving course for him, but two of the complaints against Mr Merrigan occurred afterwards.
He was formally warned after an incident in 2011 and had been counselled and asked to modify his driving.
Heke is expected to be sentenced on Friday by Justice Peter Applegarth.
