ON Sunday March 18 Redland Museum will present the free Heritage and Harmony Festival from 10am to 3pm.
The museum is teaming up with multicultural group WeR1 and RedArts to present a way celebrate music, geography, multiculturalism and harmony.
The festival will celebrate the rich, diverse history of multicultural communities like Redlands, building on previous popular Museum Harmony Days and Heritage Festivals. Aunty Joan will present a special welcome to country before guests enjoy music, dancing and free tasting of foods from around the world that can also be purchased.
Entertainers include Bay Samba, Dukes of Uke, Stradbroke Island Singers, a Cleveland State High trio, Russian and Polish dancing from Strictly Dance, Irish dancers from Lynagh Dance School, Francis Gilfedder’s monsoon flutes and chances to learn to play fun Lion Dance rhythms on woodblocks, drums and gongs. Enjoy a costume display, story corner as well as Redland Library and First 5 Forever will have a multicultural book corner with story time and a free craft workshop.
A highlight is a Flag Trail depicting various cultures who have established homes in the Redlands and a quiz about artefacts in the museum collection. The fiesta is a free event made possible by a Redland City Council grant and WeR1 and RedArts support.
