The club has moved ahead to accommodate for the population growth on Macleay Island boasting a refurbishment including a new kitchen, carpets, an expansive deck plus a synthetic green.
Macleay Island Bowls Club Macleay spokesperson Rod Callaghan said bowling enthusiasts will enjoy non-stop entertainment as a result of the world-class synthetic green which provides ongoing games year round by the picturesque bay.
"A synthetic green has much lower maintenance costs and allows us to be more competitive enabling us to hold special events which bowling greats would be pleased to play in," he said.
Rod said a synthetic green also allows for Christmas staff parties to be held on site with natural greens requiring maintenance for six weeks during the yuletitde season which costs about $90,000 annually to upkeep.

“With very little maintenance required it allows us (Club Macleay) to move ahead financially,” he said.
"Being an ecologically safe destination with no excess water and no chemicals for tourism in The Redlands is also a bonus."
The club conducted months of research to find the right synthetic fit including contacting members for feedback, visiting other clubs who found it was the solution to their problems and State Government grant approval.
Rod thanked Redland City Council for their funding and the Queensland Gambling Community Benefit Fund grant which provided the club with $235,000.
“It was the devotion to our club and our dream to help build The Redlands area and our conservation goal which sealed the deal,” he said.
Barefoot bowls can be played each Sunday and social bowls are held throughout the week. Tournaments are played throughout the year including a Club Championship.
Major drawcards of Macleay Island Bowls Club include its award-winning Waters Edge Bistro, great facilities, recreational activities and 360 degree bay views capturing sensational sunsets.
The Bay Islands are located in the Moreton Bay Marine Park and a short ferry trip form Redland Bay.
The club offers live entertainment on Saturday night, special occasions and holidays. A trivia night is held each Thursday from 7pm plus Jag The Joker each Wednesday. Social membership costs $6 a year.
