A woman has been rescued from flood waters at a rural property near Wingham.
Brad Morriss of the NSW SES said the woman “did pretty well” to get herself to safety and dial 000 after becoming trapped by flood waters in her car while seeing to cattle on her property.
“The water crept up too quickly and she became isolated,” Mr Morriss said.
The 43 year-old woman swam to a “small grassy island” and called emergency services.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched and managed to land on a dry piece of land. With the assistance of SES volunteers the woman was rescued and taken to the NSW SES Mid North Coast Region office in Taree.
It is believed the woman may have suffered hypothermia in the incident but was well enough to return home.
