Full job description

JOB TITLE: Chef
JOB TYPE: Full-time; 40 hours per week
LOCATION: 3/16 Doig street, Cleveland – or otherwise directed by the owners of the business
SUPERVISOR/MANAGER: The applicant will report directly to the owners of Bitter Suite

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

• Chef and cooking duties
• General and specialised duties including supervision and training of other kitchen staff
• Ordering stock control
• Solely responsible for other cooks and other kitchen employees in a single kitchen establishment
• Working with the owners and Head chef to finalise the menu

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Qualifications
• Completed a certificate III in commercial cookery or equivalent

Experience
• At least 5 years experience as a qualified chef with appropriate level of training in cooking, butchering or pastry cooking
• Experience working in a busy kitchen, ordering stock levels and supervision / training of kitchen employees
• At least 5 years experience working in a Restaurant and Bar and experience with global cuisines
• Worked in a commercial kitchen for at least 3 years

• Taking charge and be self sufficient in the kitchen

• Being able to train staff
• Extremely organised
• Creative and innovative with cuisine
• Must understand Global Cuisines and flavours

PERFORMANCE GOALS

• Work with a team that provides excellent cuisine to patrons
• Develop and maintain an excellent menu focused on value for money and quality of flavours
• Maintain exceptional levels of service in the Kitchen, ensuring that meals are delivered on time in an organized manner
• Revitalise and create new dishes that encourage patrons to visit Bitter Suite on a regular basis.
• Deliver the targets set by the owners and Head Chef in respect to cost to serve and food profitability
