Your new company
You will be working for a global chemical manufacturing company in Sydney who operate on a 24/7 basis. This is an outstanding permanent opportunity for an EHS specialist.

Your new role
Reporting to the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating all safety activities whilst supporting improvements and projects in EHS, Process Safety and Sustainability at the site. The role is practical and ‘hands-on’ and is a unique opportunity to apply your technical skills in a manufacturing site towards the goal of zero harm to people and the environment and to apply your practical skills in managing safety activities to enhance our Company’s position in delivering and maintaining safe, well-functioning systems for the manufacturing plant.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Implementing and coordinating safety activities and initiatives as part of the EHS Plan.
  • Interact with all personnel at all levels to implement EHS initiatives.
  • Identifying and implementing risk reduction initiatives after technical investigations into plant operations.
  • Identifying capital projects to comply with current and emerging legal requirements.
  • Improve the environmental performance of the plant assisting in the EHS audit program, developing EHS Training Material.
  • Facilitating actions arising from audits, EHS Committee, incidents and risk assessment and controls associated with prevention of incidents.
  • Monitor compliance with regulatory standards for EHS performance and behaviour consistent.
  • Undertake risk management, assessment and risk minimisation plans.
  • Assist in the management of the site EH&S Management System.
  • Assist with regulatory reporting for environmental, health, safety and sustainability.

What you'll need to succeed

  • You will have extensive experience in a similar safety role within a manufacturing or similar high risk environment.
  • Tertiary qualifications relating to Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Health & Safety and Environmental Regulations, Codes of Practice and Standards.
  • Competency and skill in methodical work techniques, trouble shooting and problem solving.
  • Strong skills in hazard identification, risk management and incident investigation.
  • Proven experience in risk assessments, safety audits, safety investigations.
