OLD Cleveland Road and Mount Cotton Road have the dubious honour of having the most approved speed camera sites in the greater Brisbane area.
There are 19 approved mobile speed camera sites along a 22km stretch of Old Cleveland Road that passes through Wellington Point, Camp Hill, Carina and Carindale.
Following closely behind is Mount Cotton Road, with more than 15 approved sites, including multiple sites in Capalaba, Sheldon, Mount Cotton, Cornubia and Burbank.
Mount Cotton Road is regarded as one of the most dangerous roads in the Redlands, with 17 people killed in crashes since 2003.
The sites are approved for portable speed measuring devices and marked and covert speed cameras.
Police said crash history was the primary criterion used to identify sites, with other reasons for establishing a mobile speed camera site including verified high risk speeding behaviour or roadwork sites where workers were at risk.
