Paul Bancroft, Cleveland District State High School principal has been awarded a Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) for service to education, sport and professional organisations in the Queen’s Birthday 2014 Honours List on Monday.
Mr Bancroft has been principal of Cleveland District State High School, since 1990, reshaping the school and introducing International education programs, pioneering the new Year 7 level at high schools and moving the school to an Independent Public School in 2013.
Mr Bancroft has also been actively involved in school sport being the current coach of the Year 10 girls' soccer team and has coached school teams every year since 1974.
He is current Chair of Redlands Bayside Cluster of Schools, current Chair, Metropolitan East School Sport Board and District Sport.
Paul is also a delegate to Queensland Secondary School Sport and President of Queensland School Sport Softball Committee and President of Queensland School Sport Football Committee.
Mr Bancroft acted as Executive Director, Education Services, in a number of school districts, 2005-2007.
He was Principal of Dysart High School from 1988-1989 a Science and Mathematics Teacher from 1974 to 1983 and Deputy Principal at Smithfield, 1984-1987.
