The thrum of the djembe drums gathered the crowds, uniting people in rhythm and pulse for the start of this year's Island Vibe Festival, held at Home Beach on North Stradbroke Island.
Drumming workshops were just one of the attractions that brought more than 80 acts to three island stages.
Equally popular was the weaving tent, children's Spider Man, circus and body art.
The festival united the island community, who came to see both the international and local talent; among them Progressive Tan, Clara Durbidge, Q Crew, Kyle Bryant, Paula Boo and Danielle Walsh.
The festival, in its ninth year, will run until November 21.
