REDLAND City will become a training ground for some of the state's best rugby league players after a partnership deal was signed between the Brisbane Broncos and the Wynnum Manly Seagulls on Monday.
Under the deal, four junior rugby league clubs in Redland City will be cultivated as feeder clubs for the Broncos, one of the state's top NRL teams.
Juniors at Capalaba, Stradbroke Island, Russell Island and Redlands, will get the benefit of direct career pathways into the NRL.
The four Redland city clubs will become part of the newly formed Wynnum Manly Seagulls Bayside Broncos Junior Development Program, being hailed as the biggest boost to the state's local rugby league.
The Wynnum Seagulls will provide the clubs with support and coaching along with visits from the Brisbane Broncos Junior Development team.
As part of the restructure, the Wynnum Manly Redland City Seagulls team was formed to compete in the new Brisbane Rugby League Competition.
The new team will continue to play home games at BMD Kougari and at Redland Juniors, Capalaba Juniors and Wynnum Junior fields.
Brisbane Broncos chief executive Paul White said the partnerships would strengthen feeder clubs from Redland City and the game of Rugby League.
