Civil leaders and community members paused to remember people lost to domestic or family violence at a candlelit vigil at Raby Bay on Wednesday night.
Redland City Mayor Karen Williams said the Redlands Domestic and Family Violence Action Group event was a chance to acknowledge the impact of domestic violence on families.
Red roses, to symbolise that domestic violence happens in intimate relationships, were held while candles were lit for those who have died as a result of domestic and family violence.
