THORNLANDS powerlifter Susan Edwards smashed four world records at the GPC National Championships on the Gold Coast last month.
The world records she declared were for Women's Raw Powerlifting Masters 2 division for squat (150kg), benchpress (77.5kg) and deadlift (150kg) with a total of 377.5kgs.
World records can only be set at national competitions and at 48 years old Edwards has broken six world records since she began powerlifting in 2014, after starting a weight-loss regime at her local gym.
"It became obvious that I was quite strong so in February 2014 I decided rather than to continue to beat myself up about losing weight I would get stronger," she said.
"I fronted up to PTC Brisbane at Northgate and had a chat with Scott Wasson and he tested my maximum lifts for squat, bench and deadlift.
"He wrote me a program and I started training with him three times a week for an hour."
Now that Edwards holds the world records for her age and weight category, she is set to compete in the GPC World Championships in Las Vegas in September.
