A GIRL Guide fundraiser helped more than just the Victoria Point organisation when it brought a smile to the face of a local girl and helped a woman supporting a farmer’s charity.
During the Victoria Point Girl Guides’ annual jumble sale fundraiser on Saturday organisers overheard a girl talking about her bicycle that had been stolen.
Vanessa told her mother that a bicycle at the jumble sale looked similar to the one that had been stolen.
The organisers of the sale decided to donate the bicycle to Vanessa.
Expressing her appreciation, Vanessa’s mum said her daughter had spent an “amazing weekend” riding the bike.
Member of the community Eddie Dunne, who was at the sale at the time, offered to pay a donation to the Girl Guides to compensate the organisation.
The organisers also gave books to Margaret McMullin, of Victoria Point, when she asked to purchase items to pass on to a charity.
Ms McMullin collects goods for an organisation that supports farmers who are doing it tough and their families.
She wanted to buy books to include in parcels for children.
