PLANS for the proposed Victoria Point Central bus station have been released and are open for comment.
The station will be located between Bunker Road and access roads into Victoria Point Shopping Centre and Town Centre Victoria Point.
The proposed new station will be split with platforms on both sides of Cleveland-Redland Bay Road.
Access to each platform will be via existing pedestrian crossings at Bunker Road or the shopping centre access roads.
The station will include capacity for six buses and will have improved lighting and security cameras with 24-hour video recording.
Provision has also been made in the design for facilities for bicycle storage, bus drivers and go card top-ups.
The final design of the upgraded station is due in late 2016.
Construction is expected to start in mid-2017, funding permitting.
TransLink has called for feedback on the design of the station before midnight on Sunday.
Feedback should be provided via a survey available online at https://haveyoursay.translink.com.au/victoria-point-central-bus-station
Redlands MP Matt McEachan said he was looking forward to the implementation of the bus station.
“Public transport infrastructure is a hugely important part of the congestion solution for Redlands,” he said.
“Commuters tell me it can’t come soon enough.”
