COMMITTEE members of the Capalaba Greyhound Racing Club have resigned due to financial difficulties although racing will continue.
A notice posted on the club’s Facebook page said Capalaba had "ceased trading due to financial difficulties’’.
The post said the club committee had resigned due to a claim for flood damage that it had made to Racing Queensland but which the latter had declined to pay.
The club did not return phone calls or emails from the Redland City Bulletin.
A Racing Queensland spokeswoman said her organisation was advised on October 10 that all committee members had resigned.
“RQ has worked with the club in the past and will continue to work with the club to ensure the continuity of greyhound racing at Capalaba,’’ she said.
“In the interests of ensuring participants to access racing opportunities at Capalaba, RQ will conduct the race meeting on Saturday (October 15) and into the indefinite future.
“RQ expects that club members will look to appoint a new committee as soon as practical.’’
She said RQ would work with the new committee to ensure racing continued at Capalaba but declined to respond to detailed questions.
