Redlands recorded six wins from nine games in the recently completed round of one and two day matches in the Brisbane Premier competition.
Unfortunately, 1st Grade, who dismissed Sandgate/Redcliffe for 247 runs were unable to chase down the required runs last Saturday. Steven Moss top scored for the Tigers with 32 and Jimmy Peirson and Martin Miers both scored 27 runs.
2nd Grade played at home on the Peter Burge Oval and set Sandgate/Redcliffe 237 runs to win. The Redlands bowlers fought hard in the heat and dismissed the opposition for 187 late on day two to take first innings points. Lenny Watt took four wickets and Craig Weier three.
3rd Grade played Sandgate/Redcliffe away and after Robert Ballarino lead the way with the ball on day one, the Tigers batsmen ran riot on day two and scored 334 runs. UK visitor Rory Smith who is being looked after by our very own Marnus Labuschagne, led the charge with a brilliant 119 not out off 127 deliveries which included twenty fours and one six. Scott McAuliffe played a great innings scoring 75 runs and Adam Pearson chipped in with 43 runs.
Redlands 4th Grade no 1 team enjoyed batting at home on day one scoring 341 for the loss of six wickets. They backed up their performance with the bat by dismissing Sandgate/Redcliffe for 154 with Ben Cole, Mitch Davis and Declan Mulheran all taking two wickets.
4th Grade no 2 team played Wynnum at Wynnum and after dismissing the opposition for 157 runs, Redlands were six down for 105 runs at the end of day one with Jacob Bowell 33 not out. Jacob saved the day for Redlands on day two with a masterly display of batting scoring 109 not out. Redlands declared eight down for 205 and ended up dismissing Wynnum a second time for 178 runs. Joshua Edwards took three wickets and Dan Weeks two.
5th Grade played at Sandgate and did well to dismiss the opposition for 166 runs. However, the Redlands boys did not bat well on day two and were dismissed for 140 with Pearce Anderson 33 and Khaleel Waqar 26 the top run scorers. Sandgate/Redcliffe batted again and were 6 down for 75 at stumps with Matthew Wheeler taking two wickets.
6th Grade no 1 played at home on Sunday and were dismissed for 133 on day one. However, Sandgate /Redcliffe were in trouble at stumps as they were 5 wickets down for 47. Whilst Tom Knight missed out on a hat trick on day two, his team mates stuck to the task at hand and dismissed the opposition for 101 runs. Tom finished with four wickets and Edward Little three. And then the collapse happened with Redlands being dismissed for 53 in their second innings leaving Sandgate/Redcliffe 86 runs to gain an outright victory. James Cullen and Edward Little made sure that did not happen with both of them taking three wickets each as Sandgate/Redcliffe were 7 down for 55 at the end of play.
6th Grade no 2 played Uni at home on the Ron Field oval and after scoring 245 runs for the loss of seven wickets on day one, had Uni two down for 31 at stumps. Uni were dismissed for 129 on day two with Jack Patterson taking four wickets. Redlands enforced the follow on and Uni were dismissed a second time for 163 with Jordan Telford taking four wickets and Jack Patterson two, giving him six wickets for the match. Unfortunately, time was against the Tigers as they endeavoured to chase an outright victory missing out by eleven runs short.
The Redlands Women’s 2nd Grade played a one day game against Ipswich/Logan in their last match of the season. Unfortunately, the opposition were able to score more runs than Redlands with Hannah Fannin top scoring with 44, Sarah Grove 33 not out and Jo Friske 28 not out. Jo took the bowling honours for Redlands taking three wickets.
Congratulations to Clodagh Ryall who was selected to play for Queensland in the National Indigenous Championships. All at Redlands Cricket are very proud of Clodagh and we wish her well in the Championships.
