14 x 14: Volunteer selected works from the RAG Collection celebrates the 14th Anniversary of the Redland Art Gallery (RAG) which officially opened its doors to the public on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 2003.
The date was significant, with the establishment of a regional gallery championed by art lovers and advocates in the community, including local artists, staff and former Mayor Eddie Santagiuliana and Councillors.
An initiative of Redland City Council, RAG has continued to offer exhibitions and public programs while building the RAG Collection through the generous support of the gallery volunteers group.
Sharing a passion for art, community and service, RAG volunteers freely donate countless hours of their time to the gallery annually.
In 14 x 14, fourteen of our longest serving gallery volunteers selected their most loved artwork from the RAG Collection.
Currently housing over 550 artworks, each artwork selected represents a year RAG has been open and acknowledges the vital role volunteers play in the gallery’s daily operations. Over the years, gallery volunteers have also come to cherish the Collection, many revealing their favourites to staff and visitors when on display.
Here are their favourites and these are their stories. 14 x 14 is curated by Stephanie Lindquist and Dominique Macedo and is dedicated to those gallery volunteers who have retired or are no longer with us. Visit 14 x 14 at RAG, Capalaba (Capalaba Place, Noeleen Street, Capalaba) until Tuesday, March 14.
