THE Redlands Volunteer Branch of Cancer Council Queensland will pay tribute to mothers at a tea-rrific event next month.
Their annual Mother’s Day Morning Tea, part of the Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser, will be on Wednesday, May 10 from 10am to noon at Victoria Point.
Branch member Tish Henderson encouraged locals to join them for a special cuppa in support of Cancer Council Queensland.
“We invite the entire community to join us for a morning of entertainment and delicious food to raise funds for those affected by cancer,” Ms Henderson said.
“Throughout the morning there will be market stalls, raffles, live music by Vinyl Frenzy Duo and a fashion parade by Louky Boutique.”
Ms Henderson said Katrina Beutel, the founder of Redland Centre for Women, would talk at the tea.
“Our events always have a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and our morning tea provides the perfect early Mother’s Day celebration.”
Cancer Council Queensland chief executive officer Chris McMillan will attend the event and encouraged people to take part in the Biggest Morning Tea fundraiser.
“From hosting or attending a morning tea, to donating, baking, or spreading the word – everyone can play a part in making the 2017 campaign a success,” she said.
The official Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea date is Thursday, May 25, but locals can hold an event and raise funds anytime in May or June.
