NEWLY-LAID turf has been stolen three times from sports fields at Redland Bay.
A council spokesperson said the turf had been stolen on three occasions between Saturday and Monday.
The grass was stolen from Charlie Buckler Sportsfield in Boundary Street.
The turf had been laid after a trench was dug to place conduit and electrical wiring underground.
It was the final stage of the installation of new lighting by council and the Southern Bay Cyclones Rugby Union Club.
“The theft of the turf has delayed the completion of the project and comes at a cost to all ratepayers, who bear the expense of it being replaced,” the spokesperson said.
Council has called for anyone with information to contact their customer service centre on 3829 8999 or police.
