A LINEUP of Aussie rock’n’roll music is just what the doctor ordered for three-year-old Hayley Lord.
The Variety Children's Charity benefit show which is this Sunday, June 25, at the Grand View Hotel from 1.30pm and 5pm, is to raise money for the Mount Cotton girl's trip to Beverley Hills in August.
While visitors to California might usually indulge in movie magic, Hayley's visit is for medical reasons.
She is booked to have her right ear reconstructed, which was undeveloped at birth due to congenital defects microtia and aural atresia.
While the corrective surgery will not improve her hearing, it will make the conditions less obvious.
Hayley’s mother Amy Lord said her daughter would spend up to a month in recovery.
Money was needed to cover not only the procedure but travel and accommodation expenses for Hayley, her parents and younger brother Thomas.
Mrs Lord said patrons at the fundraiser, hosted by DJ Aussie Rock, could enjoy raffles, auctions, door prizes and tunes by AC/DC, Cold Chisel and more.
She said money raised would help the charity continue its work to support kids in need of specialist treatment, which included Hayley.
“We are very grateful for variety’s help,” she said.
Mrs Lord said variety offered to finance travel and accommodation expenses for Hayley’s surgery. Entry is $10. Visit bashcar143.com or gofundme.com/hayleyjade.
