WITH a flying lap in the dying stages of Thursday’s Supercars co-driver practice session Dean Canto soared to the top of the time sheets.
The Prodrive Racing co-driver for Mark Winterbottom put in a time of two minutes and 6.329 seconds to jump ahead of Steve Owen (2:06.7668).
Inside the final two minutes of the session the lead rapidly changed hands, moving between James Golding, Luke Youlden and Tony D’Alberto.
D’Alberto cracked the 2:07 barrier with his 2:06.9010 before Owen and Canto bettered the mark.
There were two red flag incidents during the session.
The first of those came when Ash Walsh beached the Brad Jones Racing Commodore at The Chase.
The second red flag was for a Richard Muscat crash at The Dipper.
Walsh was racing in the number eight entry to help assess his rib injury while repairs were being carried out on the Freightliner Racing entry.
