SIRROMET Wines has placed 3rd for its 2013 Le Sauvage Chardonnay (#1 white varietal) and 5th for its 2013 Le Sauvage Shiraz Viognier (#4 red varietal) in Tasting Book's Best Wine in the World competition.
Tastingbook is run by Fine Wine magazines. It started in 2015 and includes reports from most major tastings.
A Sirromet spokeswoman said the initial three-month voting phase in Tastingbook.com finished on October 31.
“Given the number of votes received, involvement of industry professionals and world-class calibre of the other entrants, we feel it is a worthy organisation and great achievement,” she said.
The internet-based process gathered 1.3 million votes from more than 620,000 wine lovers and professionals from 105 countries.
“The final judging will take place in Helsinki on January 12-14, 2018, with a jury of wine professionals from around the world,” she said.

Chief winemaker Adam Chapman said the winery was proud to become finalists alongside world-class wines which had been recognised by professionals and wine lovers.
“We are incredibly proud to ... showcase Granite Belt wines on the world stage,” he said.
“We couldn't have achieved this result without our loyal supporters and we genuinely thank everyone who voted.”
Sirromet attributes the flavour and quality of their wines to the exceptional fruit grown in their three vineyards at 820-metres altitude at Ballandean on the Granite Belt.
With more than 100 hectares under vine, Sirromet is the most awarded Granite Belt producer.
French for “the wild”, the Le Sauvage range of wines are fermented by the natural yeast from each vineyard, resulting in wines with greater complexity and layered flavour profiles.
Sirromet have had great success in national and international wine shows, having received more than 900 awards since opening in 2000.
