Singers and and musicians are being offered the chance to hone their skills with a masterclass to be held by Dr David Keith at 6pm at the Redland Performing Arts Centre on Tuesday, December 12.
Dr Keith and his wife Mary have come to the Redlands to conduct the Redland City Choir for its performance of the Messiah on December 9. The concert has been sold out.
As part of his visit Dr Keith is offering a one night only master class for musicians and singers who would like to learn more about the art of conducting both choral and instrumental works.
Redland City Choir Director Anita Taylor, a former student of his in Texas USA , said he was one of the most talented and knowledgeable musicians that she had ever worked and studied with.
“He created the most beautiful sound from both his singers and orchestral players and Dr. Keith was able to bring out the best of each person in his performance with his calm but inspiring leadership," she said.
Dr Keith has served as conductor and adjudicator of choirs in the United States, Europe, Asia and Russia. Under his leadership, his choirs have performed at Carnegie Hall (Mozart Requiem), and for the national association of Kodaly Music Educators, the Texas Music Educators Association and the American Choral Directors Association.
He has appeared as a guest conductor of the Fort Worth-Dallas Ballet in performances at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and at Fair Park in Dallas. Dr Keith has been guest conductor of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra on several occasions. He has also been guest conductor of the Texas Camerata, a period instrument group based in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. He has also served as guest conductor of the Samara State Opera in Samara, Russia conducting performances of Musorgsky’s Boris Godunov and at the Aeteneo Paraguayo in Asuncion, Paraguay.
