Redland City Bulletin editor Lyn Uhlmann has left Fairfax Media to take up other career ventures
Ms Uhlmann began her media career as a freelance reporter for multiple newspapers and magazines in Australia and overseas.
She has been associated with community newspapers for almost 18 years, having commenced work for the Redland City-based mastheads Bayside Bulletin and The Redland Times in 2000 and, in 2007, taking a leading role in their associated magazine Senior Lifestyle Bayside.
Ms Uhlmann, who is also a children’s author, became the senior journalist for Redland City Bulletin in 2015 and the editor of Redland City Bulletin, Jimboomba Times and Beaudesert Times early in 2016.
During the past two years she also took on leadership roles, including acting editor, at the North West Star in Mount Isa and the Katherine Times in the Northern Territory.
Ms Uhlmann said it was an honour to have been part of the local media across multiple regions and to lead these newspapers through a period of substantial change and into a new, digital-first era of serving their communities.
“Thank you to everyone I have had the pleasure to work with,” Ms Uhlmann said.
“Redland City is a great place to live.
“From the islands to the mainland, I have thoroughly enjoyed telling its stories over the years.”
A new editor for Redland City Bulletin will be announced soon.
