Mick Lockhart and Jay Peters from Country Music World in Townsville have created a new online television channel for local country music artists.
The idea stems from their belief that Australian country music artists “do not get a fair go” in the industry.
“Unless you are one of the established artists it is very hard to get your music out there - and almost impossible to recoup any of the thousands of dollars spent on making a video,” Mr Lockhart said.
The pair have presented Monday night live on Facebook for the past 12 months and have listened to what the artists have been saying.
“We’ve came up with the idea of giving the artists their own platform to present their music and to show the fans just how much talent we have here in Australia,” he said.
Country Music World was launched on November 20 and is an online streaming, subscription based, television channel running 24 hours a day, every day.
“At long last Australian Country music has its own identity where the artists will be recognised and compensated for their hard work and earn the respect they should be entitled to in this country. Viewers will be blown away with the quality of this channel and will be absolutely amazed at the talent we have in this country.
