OCEAN breezes will help keep the Redlands cool as inland parts of Australia are warmed up by a heatwave later this week.
A heatwave map released by the Bureau of Meteorology suggests extreme conditions could be experienced across southwest Queensland, large parts of New South Wales and far northeast Victoria from Saturday.
The mercury is tipped to hit up to the mid-40s in areas affected by the heatwave while south-east Queensland looks set for more balmy conditions.
Highs of about 30 degrees and night time lows of about 20 degrees are predicted for the greater Brisbane area.
Bureau of Meteorologist Adam Woods said ocean winds and would help ward off the hot air mass which has formed over parts of inland Australia and the Kimberlies in Western Australia since Sunday.
“Later in the week their will be south-western parts of the state affected,” he said.
"But on the coast, its probably moderated,” he said.
