Singer-songwriter Georgie Taylor, 16, of Thornlands will perform her debut single Insane at the Carter and Carter Shine showcase in Tamworth on January 24 as part of the country music festival.
This showcase, held at the Capitol Theatre features young and emerging country artists who perform alongside established artists. Insane is one of three songs Georgie will perform.
Insane was released to radio on January 8 and digitally on January 10 and is part of Georgie's first studio offering, an EP of original songs, produced by Liam Kennedy-Clark at Lush Recording Studios, Clontarf Beach. It was created in a co-writing session in September 2017.
The song covers the journey through the pain, the deep emotional turmoil experienced and the things that really drive you Insane in the process of self-discovery.
“Insane is about relationships drifting away, unknowingly and over time, until there are only fragments left of what was once precious. It’s the moment when you discover the drift - but it’s too late to do anything about it,” Georgie said.
In 2017 Georgie gained recognition for her music as theRedArts Young and Emerging artist 2017, receiving a nomination for the Redland City Council Australia Day awards cultural award and also graduated from the ‘one of a kind’ CMAA Junior Academy of Country Music in July 2017.
In Tamworth this month, she will also get a chance to reconnect with her academy friends through a series of young artist events such as Young Country and Next Generation Country showcases and will join with many other buskers in Peel Street from January 19 to 28.
Georgie has become known for writing beautifully crafted original songs with captivating lyrics, looking at the world as she sees it, through a young person’s eyes.
She said she was excited to have had the opportunity to fulfil her dream of bringing her original songs to life by having them recorded in professional world-class recording studio.
