Tickets to Diner en Rouge, the Redlands’ most fabulous fundraiser, are now up for grabs.
The annual formal event on Saturday May 12, 2018, to be held at a secret location, is at the heart of a growing movement of support in the Redlands for those affected by domestic and family violence.
Redland city mayor Karen Williams said funds raised from Diner en Rouge would lead to a significant boost in crisis accommodation in the Redlands’ region.
“Proceeds from previous gala banquets now total more than $220,000, boosted by substantial donations from local community organisations and benefactors,’’ Cr Williams said.
“This year’s proceeds will add to the fund, which is held by the Redland Foundation and take us another big step closer to providing the extra crisis accommodation we so desperately need.
“There are only seven crisis accommodation units across the bayside catering for a population of more than 150,000 but they are in high demand, so we want to build at least another four.
“Hopefully the success of our fundraising efforts will entice the state government to join with us and local advocates and make that happen.”

Cr Williams said those who could not make the event could still take part through the Diner en Rouge raffle.
“Tickets are just $10 each with the chance of winning one of three great prizes and the certainty of knowing you are part of the Redlands’ community commitment to ending family violence,’’ Cr Williams said.
“While Diner en Rouge provides a sumptuous banquet with lots of fun and entertainment, it also emphasises the need for a community effort to tackle the insidiousness of domestic and family violence.’’
The Redlands location of Diner en Rouge, which has a red-and-white theme, is kept secret until the night to recognise that domestic and family violence often occurs in secret. Ticket holders meet at 4.30pm at Redland Performing Arts Centre (RPAC).
Diner en Rouge is sponsored by Redland City Bulletin, TownCentre Victoria Point, Designline Graphics, Excel Hire and Event Supporters Grand View Hotel and Beautiful Illusions.
